Simple Mutton Curry

This is going to be my first dish in mutton. So just want to make it simple and this is something of my style. so without much intro lets get into the dish.


Mutton– 7 to 8 pieces

Large Onion – 1 cup finely chopped

Tomato – 1 medium size

Red Chili Powder – 1/2 tsp or more depend on your spice level

Turmeric powder – 1/4 tsp

Coriander powder – 1 tsp

Water – 1 cup

Freshly crushed pepper powder – 1/2 tsp

Cilantro Finely chopped

Salt – to taste

To grind:

Onion – 1 medium size

Tomato – 1 big size

Ginger – 2 inch

Green chili -2

Garlic –7 cloves


Oil – 1/2 tbsp

Bay leaf -1

Cinnamon – 1/4 inch piece

Clove- 2 

Fennel Seeds – 1/2 tsp


1. To begin making,turn on the pressure cooker add in mutton,chili powder,coriander powder,Turmeric powder,salt. Put all the “To Grind” ingredients in a blender and a make a smooth paste. Now add half portion of the paste in the pressure cooker. Add 2 cups of water and pressure cook it for 8-10 whistles.

2.  In the mean time take a pre-heated pan, add in some oil. Once the oil become hot add the seasoning items one next to other. Then add onion and tomato. Once they become Soft and well combined add the remaining paste that we blended before. Add some salt and cook it until the raw smell goes off. Add water if needed. Cook it for a good 5-8 mins.

3. Now its time to add the cooked mutton on to the gravy. Let it get well combined with the gray. After 10 mins, add in the crushed pepper powder and finely chopped cilantro. Give it a nice mix. You Mutton curry is all set to serve. Have it with Rice or Roti. Enjoy 🙂
